Episode 23 To "Drop" Soon

Episode 23 is currently in editing, and will move to QA shortly. After that it will head to production. Hopefully, the plentitude of explosions in the Irem segment will offset the lack of action due to all of this episode's RPGs.

See you in a couple days.

Explosions in the Irem Segment? I am so psyched about this episode =)

I can't wait. I just wanted to say that I find your stuff amazing, the level of commentary and insight is great, and the sheer fact that you complete _many_ of these games, including some truly terrible ones, is just awe inspiring. I wouldn't have the patience for one of these games, myself.

Also, your production values are very good-particularly your audio. Your voice comes in loud and clear, yet doesn't obscure the important sounds from the game itself. As someone who's worked with audio before, I know how difficult it can be. Plus your voice is perfect for this.

So, yeah, great stuff.

Thanks, I actually have some doubts about this episode, due to the fact so many games are RPGs very similar in style to each other. On the other hand, for folks who are curious about very early JRPGs but wouldn't want to actually try to play the damned things, I guess this episode will prove insightful. On the other hand, the late period Irem games glimpsed in this episode are incredibly good looking.

As for the production values - we'll obviously its very basic. I struggle a lot with trying to make myself intelligible on the recordings. Unfortunately, I really need to learn more about the technology of recording voice, and how to use compression and filters and whatnot.

As someone who also has spoken audio commentary for videos I know that it is hard to find the right words for them. While compiling and thinking about it you think you know exactly what to say, but at the moment you have the mic in front of your face and recording is on your first word is: "Erm...".
So I can tell you Doc S., your comments are really much appreciated =)

PS I have seen all the episodes, I put them on late at night and stretch to them with the lights off. The retro visuals and sounds combined with your insightful commentary make for a very hypnotic experience.
