Thyme Crisis

It saddens my heart quite a bit to see that my old alma mater, UC Davis, has become the latest example of police brutality against peaceful protestors.  When I went to Davis, it has a reputation as a mellow, quirky, hippie-ish college - the sort of place where bicycles, vegetarian black bean burritos, and Earth Day festivals defined the campus.  Back then, Davis was frequently mocked by conservative media outlets such as Rush Limbaugh and... er... The Daily Show for it's goofy left wing mindset and the famous "Toad Tunnel."

I guess that things have changed I lot since I went to college.

Believe it or not, quite a bit of work has been done on Chrontendo Episode 42. I'm not going to lie and say it's "almost" ready, but it will definitely be more timely than Episode 41.  As usual, there will tons of crap, including LJN's Friday the 13th! (I will admit, I hate that game.)  For the moment though, I've been busy preparing for Thanksgiving.  I'll be cooking a pretty simple dinner this year, compared to last.  However, this didn't prevent me from having to go to three stores today looking for some goddamned thyme. Is there some kind of thyme shortage going on right now?  Also, my birthday was couple days ago, and it seems I've been on a constant diet of fatty foods, cheese, cake and beer; all of which have conspired to make me lazy.

But!! I do have a very special treat for everyone! Perhaps you remember the remarkable story of Mudflaps, the kitten.  She's doing fine, is getting bigger all the time, and is getting on smashingly with our other animals.  She loves to groom our dog, Gigi, who is very patient with Mudflaps -- up to a certain point. I have immortalized this tumultuous cat/dog friendship in this brief video.

This is the only HD Chrontendo video, but don't expect too much, since it was shot on a cheapie camera.

I was in a bit of a foul mood having read your post after arriving home empty handed from a few Black Friday (or is that Black Thursday now?) sales and realizing how stupid I am for even considering being a part of this horrible ritual. My spirits were further dampened after being reminded of the atrocious pepper-spraying incident of late but the day was saved thanks to Mudflaps and Gigi. Hilarious stuff right there! Hope you had a good birthday and Thanksgiving.

Damn! You actually went out on Black Friday/Thursday to do some shopping? Good thing you didn't get pepper-sprayed/shot/stampeded by the other shoppers.

Ahh great news! Well.. About Mudflaps anyways. Glad to see the kitten is doing better!

Thanks again for another solid release on Episode 41! Don't feel like you've got to rush the videos, as I imagine there's a lot more work that goes into them then we get the chance to see.

I've wondered though.. As an aspiring web caster, I've been meaning to ask just how you record your audio? What kind of mic/set up do you use? I've been trying to find a good microphone to invest in but I can never find any solid or reliable reviews. I've also wondered what you've been using to capture your game play? The videos always come out so fresh and so clean that Andre 3000 himself would be hard pressed to say otherwise.

As always, keep up the good work and I can't wait to see July 1989!

The microphone is a Blue Yeti. I originally had a Blue Snowball, but saw the Yeti on sale one day and couldn't resist. Supposedly, its one of the better USB condenser mikes.

The NES videos as recorded with Nestopia's AVI recorder. The other game play videos are normally captured with FRAPS. I encode using xvid with the quantizer set to 1 for good quality.

The worst moment of my life was waiting years for you to arrive at Friday the 13th, and discover that I *AM* in fact probably the only one who actually likes the game. Such misery.

Happy Birthday and Thanksgiving Dr.Sparkles! Btw, you were eating fatty foods, cheese, cake and beer? Or was it fatty foods, CHEESECAKE and beer? Because I'll be honest - I don't think I can read that combo of words and not suddenly want to eat cheesecake :)
