Next Up: Chronsega

Episode 6 of Chronsega, the Sega Master System counterpart to Chrontendo, should be up in a few days.  This new episode is simultaneously running a bit early and a bit late.  Early, because it seems I just released Chrontendo 35 a few days before Christmas.  Now, New Year's has just past and a new episode is already coming up.  I guess that's pretty quick by my normal starndards.

But it also feels a little late since this is taking just a wee bit longer than the average Chronsega.  Why?  Let's face it: the typical episode of Chronsega features two or three interesting games, padded out with some generic sports titles, some light, goofy stuff like Galactic Protector, and a bunch of crap.  Chronsega 6, on the other hand, is stuffed with big, important games: Shinobi, Rastan, R-Type, Captain Silver - and to top it all off - frickin' Golvellius!   Throw in a decent baseball game, and some lesser know action games such as Spellcaster and Lord of the Sword, and you've got one super-packed episode.

Time to ride the wild, red worm!

So give me a few days to finish this thing up, and we'll see how it goes.

Hell yeah! As someone who grew up with and loves the Master System, I enjoy the Chronsega episodes even more than the Chrontendo ones. Can't wait for this one :)

Oh hey, is that name a reference to A Mind Forever Voyaging? Good call.

Also, two videos in less than a month? With school starting up I will feel lucky to get an article in a week. Your Mark E. Smith level work ethic continues to impress.

Looking forward to it :)

Well, I'm glad somebody digs Chronsega!

I'm not sure if being compared to MES is a good thing or a bad thing, but I'll continue on in his tradition by firing you all and shortly thereafter replacing you with younger commenters.

Hey Doc, if you are interested in putting up a Youtube Video again, here is some interesting material, with which no one else has done a Video (afaik) on Youtube: http://dreamandfriends.com/2011/01/06/aliens-squareactivision-unreleased/
its about a FDS Port of a MSX game for the Aliens movie from 86, it was never released, and a copy just has arrived on the interwebs, from a collector who bought it for "oceans of money". And it is utter horse-shit... .

And I want to advertise the Awesome Games Done Quick Marathon on www.speeddemosarchive.com , a charity event from SDA...it features 100 games, Speedrunned live in 4 Days (though on the last marathon it was half a day longer, because not every run went as planned...and now they are at the 8th game, and allready more than 2 hours behind schedule...). I watch the stream constantly, why shouldn't you?

Since today is the 7th, that means I'm expecting the video. Seriously, I'm addicted and love the Sega stuff because that's more of what I grew up with.

The best part of Chronsega (and Turbo for that matter) is that my wife doesn't care about them so I can watch them without having to wait until we can both see it.

I was one of the (un?)fortunate few who actually owned an SMS back in the day, so it's near and dear to my heart! Of course, the fact of the matter is that the good games for the SMS could be counted on two hands, but it definitely deserves more love than it gets.

Doc,

I was checking out the Chrontendo spreadsheet, which is awesome, and I've noticed a bunch of the dates are screwed up. Instead of a D/M/Y or ?? they are numbers like "31069". Any idea what happened?

Doctor Sparkle said...

Phil - Thanks for the heads up. For some reason, a bunch of dates got changed from the date format to the number format. I've corrected this, but if anyone finds any other problems, let me know.

As a die-hard Sega fan who loaths all things Nintendo... THANK YOU for doing Chronsega. It's really nice that someone is doing something that's not Nintendo centric for once.

Doc,

Awesome! I'm using the spreadsheet for a little project which I think Chrontendo fans will enjoy. I'll let you know when it's up.

FYI I've put up a spreadsheet of just the games that are missing day or month data on your release list, and we're soliciting folks to help fill it out http://www.gamespite.net/talkingtime/showthread.php?p=942019
